Asphyxiation

Dark sun without shine

Dead stars without sparkle

Dry seas without substance

Dull moon without glow

Flow blood from my body

People drain me of life, love, hope

I flop on the mud-cracked bottom

Of a parched ocean

Gasping for air

Dark sun without shine

Dead stars without sparkle

Dry seas without substance

Dull moon without glow

Flow blood from my body

Flow

                                                           Eyes

Why can’t people act as if they don’t have eyes?
Then people couldn’t see disabilities.

You could not see the color of someone’s skin.
You could not see someone drooling.
You could not see someone shaking.
You could not see incontinent bags.
You could not see facial disfigurements.
You could not see how much a person weighs.

Then we could see the world as yellow as the sun
and as green as the grass.
Come see the world as I do.

You could not see someone’s wrinkles.
You could not see someone’s hair color.
You could not see someone’s missing teeth.
You could not see someone’s missing limb.

Then we can see the world as yellow as the sun
and as green as the grass.
Come see the world as I do.

Black Boy

Joy and Tears

Black boy when I came home and I saw a little black boy lying in the arms of
our mother…JOY

Black boy when you fell and hurt your knee…TEARS

Black boy when we were flying down the street on my wheelchair or when
you got older and we are flying in the car…JOY

Black boy when I left home and could not see you every day because it
was time for me to go and live my life… TEARS

Black boy when we were hanging out and we talked about little people and
how we respect them…JOY

Black boy when people see your dread locks and judge you, they do not know
who you are; they should feel your heart...TEARS

Black boy when we went to Santa Cruz and you took me down all the steps
so I could touch the sand, even though it was going to hurt your back...

JOY AND TEARS

Black boy when I call you for the last time and mom couldn't wake you up
I said please try, but she could not wake you...

TEARS
TEARS
TEARS

34 Tears for black boy

JOY FOREVER………..
